DIY Pumpkin Pillow for Under $10
Our Version of the Pottery Barn Cozy Pillow Pumpkin
What’s Fall without Pumpkins and a cozy vibe? When you combine the two, you find yourself in a blissful Fall Heaven! We absolutely adore the Pumpkin Pillow sold in many popular stores like Pottery Barn. However, with prices ranging from $29.00 to $49.00, it can feel a bit steep for just one seasonal item, don’t you think?
So, we decided to channel our creativity and make our very own. Below, you’ll find a list of a few inexpensive items we gathered, along with the easy steps to craft your very own Pumpkin Pillow inspired creation. No sewing skills or intricate techniques are needed—just a dash of DIY spirit and a few minutes of your time, and you’re one step closer to adding a charming custom fall decor item that will make your home all the cozier for the delightful season ahead!
What We Used
Items we used
$5 Sherpa Pillow Dollar Tree
Natural Jute $1.00
Scissors $1.00
Hot Glue gun and glue sticks $1.00
How We Did It
1.Using a 18X18 pillow, cut one end of the pillow open and remove all filling
2. Turn the empty pillow cover inside out, tie twine or rubber ban around the uncut bottom.
3. Turn the pillow cover right side out, stuff the pumpkin until you can no longer fit any more filling inside. You’ll want it nice and plump for the best results!
Bottom of the Pillow
4. Tie the open end closed with twine and add a bit of hot glue.
5. Create the pumpkin segway. Wrap yarn around the pumpkin, criss-crossing the yarn at the top and bottom of the pillow. Continue until you have 6-8 equal segments, and tie a knot when the two ends of the yarn meet at the top.
6. For the stem, roll up the excess fabric and use hot glue to keep it in place. I rolled mine up with the fuzzy side on the inside.
Our Finished Pumpkin Pillow
This year, you can find Pumpkin pillows and a wide variety of other Pumpkin-themed decor items at wonderfully low prices. Retailers such as Target, Walmart, Michaels, and many more are offering an impressive range of seasonal selections that suit different tastes and budgets. However, when I chose to make this particular pillow myself, I noticed that the ones being sold were priced higher than I felt comfortable spending for a decoration that is only seasonal.
Crafting it on my own was an enjoyable experience, allowing me to add a personal touch to my home decor. I continue to use this pillow every season because its neutral color palette complements all of my different color schemes beautifully.
